1989’s Sinbad Of The Seven Seas, directed by Enzo G. Castellari and written by Castellari and Tito Carpi, is another glorious Cannon production starring Lou Ferrigno in the titular role. Needless to say, this is the greatest movie of all time and Matt and Drew love it!

Sinbad Of The Seven Seas claims to be based on the Edgar Allan Poe short story, The Thousand-And-Second Tale Of Scheherazade, which was in turn inspired by the Sinbad stories of The One Thousand And One Nights. These are all dubious claims, but the film stars Lou Ferrigno as Sinbad; John Steiner as Jaffar; and Teagan Clive as Soukra.

The film was originally going to be directed by Reel Fantasy favorite, Luigi Cozzi, who was replaced by Cannon at the last minute, with Castellari installed in his place. When Castellari turned in a three-and-a-half hour film at the end of production, Cannon quickly called Cozzi back in to re-cut the film. The result is still a sloggy, confusing mess…but at least it’s only one and a half hours!

Matt and Drew were also struck by how many similarities Disney’s Aladdin has to story elements of this film. And that’s all we have to say about that.
